Safari tour through the centre of Tahiti

On a sunny Tuesday, we did a safari tour through the centre of the island of Tahiti. Thanks to Te Mana tour with Rainui and Manoa we had a wonderful time. The tour takes around 8 hours to complete.

We started by doing pickups, we had a group of 5 in total but some do up to 8 people. In a 4x4 ute with a cover when driving through urban areas. You get to see the East coast of Tahiti, the road goes East by West, with the internal parts on gravel roads and would definitely need a good driver with 4 wheel drive. The landscape is spectacular, best on a good day and you get a chance to hear the stories through the speakers of the tour guide under your seats or get out and go for a swim in the internal river, when lunch time comes.

Pack a sandwich and some water, although some tours do provide snacks and water. Good pair of running or training shoes, and mosquitoes repellent. Our tour guide was very knowleadgeable and friendly, not boring and great story teller.

Be prepared for dramatic views of the high mountain peaks at the centre of the island. It is really worthwhile. The drive goes full circle and you will be passing through the big centres: Papeete of course, but also Arue/Mahina on the East coast and Paea/Punaauia/Faaa on the West coast.
